The claret of comedy nights!
Hosted by BBC 3 Murder in Successville star Liam Hourican, Cabaret Sauvignon brings together the very best character and sketch acts on the London circuit. This month’s superb line up throws two brilliant stand-ups into the mix, with Phil Wang and Eleanor Tiernan joining character comedians Mike Hayley, Marny Godden, Liam Hourican, Alice Marshall, and Susan Harrison for an anarchic night in Stoke Newington’s most atmospheric dive, the Mascara bar. Following the success of last month’s fundraiser which raised £600 for Help4RefugeeChildren we are donating all proceeds to Phone Credit for Refugees, a great charity which allows refugees to keep in touch with friends and family back home.
Cabaret Sauvignon’s host does characters and impressions, creating ‘wonderfully ridiculous caricatures’ (Steve Bennett, Chortle). TV credits include Very Important People for Channel 4, Glitchy for ITV2 and Murder in Successville and Big Field for BBC3. He is the author of Gerry and the Peace Process, a musical comedy about Gerry Adams and two sketch shows for Channel 4, Ape and iCandy, in which he also starred.
The last year has seen Phil appear on Live at the Apollo (BBC2), Have I Got News for You (BBC1), 8 Out of 10 Cats (C4) and Drunk History (Comedy Central) as well as write and star in his own sketch series for Radio 4 with his Foster’s Newcomer Award nominated trio, Daphne. He has performed three solo stand-up shows.

Eleanor is an Irish comedian well-known among Irish audiences for her live stand up performances and her work in TV, theatre and on radio. She was featured on Stewart Lee’s Alternative Comedy Experience on Comedy Central and has played Latitude, Glastonbury, Montreal Just for Laughs and all of the top Irish comedy festivals and all of the top Irish comedy festivals.
‘Tiernan has a uniquely oblique angle on the world, and her routines have a touch of whimsy while grounded in astute observation. It means her set sounds fresh and original, without being so wilfully strange it will alienate all but the most dedicated followers.’ CHORTLE
One of The Independent’s top female comedians of 2017, Alice is fast becoming a regular at Cab Sauv.
"Spot on impersonations and delightful exaggerations" The Scotsman
"She manages to be erotic and extremely funny at the same time without being effortful or cheesy about it. A natural, in other words" The Spectator
AKA Clovis Van Darkhelm, amateur anthropologist, paranormal investigator and collector of magical ephemera. Clovis is a staple at Cab Sauv, thrilling and appalling audiences in equal measure with his questionable powers of clairvoyance.
Marny Godden is one of the most joyful and original voices in British comedy. Whether it be in her live shows or onscreen performances, her rag-tag collection of characters transport audiences into a playground of silliness and stupidity. In this her latest creation, a toothless punk beguiles the audience with tales from the tooth. “Sublimely silly, brilliant surreal” THE TIMES. “Perfectly executed comedy” EDINBURGH EVENING NEWS “Godden’s style is hilarious” THREE WEEKS “Outstandingly performed” BROADWAY BABY
“A Perfomer with depth and range; able to read the audience with the precision of an old hand…a fantastic character comedian” (Chortle)
Her numerous characters include an elderly mermaid, a folk singing Tony Blair, Andy Warhol in a giant can of soup and a horse who has had plastic surgery to become a unicorn.
She co-runs Cabarera, the monthly era-themed comedy night and was a series regular for series 1 and 2 of the BAFTA nominated sketch show Definitely Not Newsround (CBBC).
As an improviser she is part of Showstopper The Improvised Musical and Monkeytoast.
